Aim of school visits

The school visits revolve around the analysis of figurative documents as a means of acquiring the necessary tools to understand and critique Tamara de Lempicka’s work. They will strengthen the ability to look at images and propose possible interpretations about them, enabling participants not only to appreciate how each artwork is a product of its time but to reconstruct an era, a place and the artist’s sensibility. The language and methodology used will be adapted to the age of the participants.

Visit for infant and primary school pupils

Tamara de Lempicka: what a colourful name for a Polish artist who lived in Russia, went to lovely Paris, adored Italy, and eventually ended up in the United States! The pictures that almost seem like sculptures, the drawings with their decisive strokes, the photos that portray her as a great diva, the decorative objects and the items of clothing on display tell the story of a woman of great passions, an adventurous woman who loved travel, fashion and cinema.

Approximate duration of 1 hour

Visit for secondary school pupils

Tamara de Lempicka, an exponent of the Art Deco style, was born in Poland but moved to Paris and then to the United States. She was a modern, emancipated woman, free-spirited and independent. By examining the images, participants will come to understand that her portraits of high society, her women, her serenely classical—almost sculptural—nudes and her evocative still lifes are inspired by a variety of sources. Not only that: they prompted a whole new style.

Approximate duration of 1 hour and 15 minutes

Visit for groups of adults

The ethereal atmosphere—at times erotic, disturbing and provocative—is the most striking aspect of Tamara de Lempicka’s works, which offer a splendid glimpse of the cultural climate, fashions and whims that characterised the decades between the two world wars. Here is an artist who not only became an icon of Art Deco but an icon of life and art in general. The exhibition invites visitors to explore the artistic career of a legendary figure for whom art was inextricably fused with life.

Approximate duration of 1 hour and 15 minutes
